Instructions for Presentations and Performances

Dear presenter, thank you for contributing to the 3rd Audiovisual Symposium. These instructions apply to everyone on the programme. Please read the section that matches your contribution format. The general timing rule is the same for all:

Each presentation or performance lasts a maximum of 15 minutes, followed by 5 minutes of questions and answers (QnA).

General instructions

  • [do not apply 1st act each session] Changeover during QnA: The changeover to the next act happens **during the QnA of the previous presenter**. Be ready at the side of the stage so that the transition takes no extra time. Make your preparations cautiously and discreetly.
  • Time limit: Your presentation or performance must fit within 15 minutes. The session chair will signal at 12 minutes and stop you at 15 minutes.
  • QnA: Each slot is followed by 5 minutes of QnA, moderated by the session chair.
  • If anything is unclear, please contact the session chair or the organising committee before the symposium.

Performances

Format: performances, live, practice-based or demonstration work presented as an academic or artistic contribution. Each act: maximum 15 minutes on stage, followed by 5 minutes QnA/applause break used for changeover to the next act. You find your venue and time allocation in the symposium program.

Before:

  • The Dome enables 5.1, 7.1, and stereo formats, Hallarna has stereo PA and a mixer.
  • Complete your soundcheck and stage setup during the appointed slot in the programme. This is the only opportunity to test levels, projection, instruments, and any custom technical setup (e.g. audiovisual instruments, sensors, live electronics).
  • Report your technical requirements in advance.
  • Bring your own instruments and special equipment. The venue provides Wi-Fi, PA, projection, and power.

During:

  • [do not apply 1st act each] Be prepared while the previous act performs. During their 5-minute QnA/break, enter the stage, plug in and set up in silence. The technician will connect you quickly according to your soundcheck notes.
  • Start on the chair's signal. Your performance runs for a maximum of 15 minutes from the moment you are announced.
  • Treat the performance as a contribution: be prepared to discuss intent, method and context during the QnA.
  • Keep the stage area tidy: the next act sets up as you leave, so pack quickly and take your belongings with you immediately.
